Today was a good day for a hike. I called my friend Blaze to see if he wanted to go hiking. He said he would, but it would have to be a family hike. So 10 of us (5 adults, 5 kids) made our way to Nuuanu Pali Lookout at about 10:45 am and went down Old Pali Road towards the Likeke Trail.
Just like last time, we had to squeeze through the concrete opening just below the Pali Hwy. But this time we had 10 people, it was easier said than done. The kids had a difficult time going down, so we formed a carrying line. It worked fine.
On the way to the Likeke Trail, we saw this tree that was uprooted, probably from the bad weather a few weeks ago. This tree covered the entire road and we had to hop over it. See those roots sticking up, nuts huh! On the way to the falls we faced the cobble stone path. There appeared a fork. I forgot which one to take and felt a little embarrassed because I was so confident that I knew the correct route to Likelike Falls. Blaze and I decided to take the left fork while the others took a break. After about 5 minutes we approached Likelike Falls. We went back and told the others that we were on the correct path.
All of us eventually got to the falls and it was nice to experience all the kids playing in the shallow pool Likeke Falls offers. They threw rocks and walked in the water. Jared also brought his swimming dolphin. So we threw the dolphin into the shallow pool and watched it swim before getting stuck on the rocks. Likelike was also rushing that day and I made sure to take a picture when the clouds covered the sun so the glare wouldn't show in the picture like last time.
After the hike, we went to Kapahulu and ate at Good to Grill. The food was average and expensive, but I was hungry and so was everyone else. I was proud of all the kids for handling the 4 mile hike. It wasn't easy, especially coming back up, but it was well worth it.
