Chicago is known for their iconic food brought by Italian immigrants. Two foods that are at the top of the list are the Chicago Deep Dish and the Italian Sandwich. I also wanted to try the Chicago Dog. That was it, those were the dishes I wanted to try.
Portillo's is a restaurant chain that has good Chicago Dogs. It is dressed up with a big pickle, tomatoes, green relish, two spicy sport peppers, mustard and a beef hot dog all on a poppy seed bun. It taste exactly like a Costcos hot dog. If I dressed up a Costcos hot dog it would taste exactly like that.

This is another restaurant chain that sells Chicago favorites. I didn't realize that I had to pay for the extras that is why it looks so plain. I did get the jus sauce on the side which was a smart move since I carried this back to my hotel. The chili fries with cheese was probably the best I've ever had in my life. The potatoes are freshly cut and go well with the cheese and chili. This too was filling, but since I just ran the marathon it wasn't too much to eat.
I couldn't believe how small the personal pan was for $15. But this Chicago Style Deep Dish from Lou Malnati's was amazing. What was surprising was that the crust was super flakey and feel apart. The mozzarella cheese was gooey and stretched. The sauce had a light acid taste and was a bit sweet. Although it was so small, it filled me up big time.
This personal pan pizza was over $10
Regular deep dish, it doesn't look appetizing but it was the best deep dish pizza I ate in Chicago
